Seva Fumoux
(Campaign Director)
Seva graduated with
an M.A. in Anglo-American Literature and Civilization
from Université Lumière Lyon 2, France, and has a
Post-Graduate Certificate of Education from Oxford
University. She
has worked as a teacher of Liberal Arts and Languages
with students from primary to university level for 4
years in the USA and England, and has led community
projects targeted at marginal and immigrant communities
in several countries.
In 2006, Severine relocated to India to participate in
and manage
education-related development work for Delhi-based NGOs
Mobile Crèches and Vidya & Child, before deciding to
help launch CleanStar Trust.
Ashok Pawar
(Program Manager)
Ashok is an
accomplished project manager with over 25 years of
social work experience in this
region of Maharashtra. He has received several awards
for his work with local NGOs and earned special UNDP
recognition for a landmark project he led after the
Latur Earthquake in 1993 to rehabilitate a whole village with the participation of affected people.
Ashok hails from a small landholding family about 30 km
from the campaign's test site. Three of his brothers are still
small scale farmers, practicing mostly rainfed
agriculture. During his life, Ashok has observed first
hand the effects of land degradation and water scarcity on
local livelihoods.
Board
Sagun Saxena (Chairman & Trustee)
Sagun trained as a Chemical Engineer
at the University of California at Berkeley, where he conducted
research on BioGas production in rural India. He has an MBA in
Social Entrepreneurship from the University of Oxford and 8
years of international consulting and project management
experience. From 1991-93, Sagun was part of the team that helped
to scale up Asha for Education, a non-profit action group
that supports basic education for underprivileged children in
India. In 2004, Sagun returned to India to focus full-time on
starting projects that promote integrated social, economic and
environmental development.
Shashank Verma
(Trustee)
Shashank trained as a Software
Engineer from R.E.C. Kurukshetra, India. He worked for 5 years
in the IT sector with leading Indian and international companies
before opting to pursue an MBA at the University of Oxford.
During his MBA course, Shashank undertook research and field
work on the production of BioDiesel in rural India, working
closely with the BioFuel Policy team at the Planning Commission
of India. His work earned two special distinctions from Oxford
University examiners. Shashank returned to India in 2005, and is
now recognized as an expert on business and policy related to
BioFuel production.
